The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus emerged in December 2019 as a novel human pathogen causing a severe acute respiratory syndrome, called “COVID-19”. In the following months, the disease has spread internationally and was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020.

The UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute has fast-tracked the UCSC Genome Browser for SARS-CoV-2, which went live on April 2nd 2020. The Genome Browser aims to facilitate genome research by offering data visualization, genome annotations, and other tools.

This tutorial on the UCSC Genome Browser is brought to you by Dr Adam West in the College of Medical Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow, Scotland. This is part of series of tutorials on using the UCSC Genome Browser. Watch, and read more.
